Intertek supports exporters and importers trading with Nigeria by helping ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian standards and facilitating the issuance of mandatory SONCAP certification for regulated products.

Intertek supports exporters and importers trading with Nigeria by providing conformity assessment and verification services to help ensure compliance with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP).

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) is designed to verify that regulated products exported to Nigeria comply with applicable Nigerian standards and technical regulations before shipment. Compliance helps facilitate customs clearance, supports consumer protection, and contributes to the quality and safety of imported goods.

As an approved conformity assessment body, Intertek helps exporters meet SONCAP requirements through document review, testing, inspection, and certification services, enabling smoother market access and reducing the risk of delays at destination.

SONCAP Requirements for Nigeria

  • Regulated products exported to Nigeria must comply with applicable Nigerian approved international and regional standards.
  • A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is required for SONCAP-regulated products prior to shipment.
  • The CoC supports SONCAP Certificate issuance and customs clearance in Nigeria.
  • Shipments that do not comply with SONCAP requirements may be subject to delays, rejection, or additional inspections at destination.
