Get an independent validation of your EU Declaration

Stand Out in a Competitive Market with Independent Validation

Regulatory access to the European market is largely built on the manufacturer's self-declaration of conformity. That approach remains fully valid — but market expectations have evolved. Customers, buyers, and stakeholders increasingly expect products, especially industrial equipment and machinery, to be backed by an independent third-party assessment of safety and quality.

In a complex and competitive market, "we declare it ourselves" is often no longer enough to win the deal.

Intertek's Attestation of Conformity (AoC) provides that added level of confidence. By validating your product through an impartial review of your technical evidence, you strengthen trust, enhance brand credibility, and differentiate your products where it matters — in front of the customer.

What is an Attestation of Conformity?

An Attestation of Conformity is an independent evaluation of your self-declaration of conformity, based on a thorough review of your Technical Construction File (TCF) and supporting documentation. Intertek's experts verify that the applicable standards and regulatory requirements are met, and that your technical evidence genuinely supports your claims.

The result: an official Attestation of Conformity issued by an independent third party; a document you can put in front of customers, authorities, and market stakeholders.

When is an AoC the Right Choice?

An AoC is particularly powerful when:

  • Test data already exists and you want to leverage it, not repeat it
  • Customers or tenders require independent validation of your declaration
  • You want to accelerate market access without entering a full certification program

Typical regulatory frameworks covered:

  • Radio Equipment Directive - RED (2014/53/EU)
  • Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU)
  • Machinery Regulation (2023/1230)
  • Cyber Resilience Act - CRA (EU 2024/2847)
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2014/30/EU)
  • RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU)
  • The corresponding UK regulations supporting UKCA and UKNI

The Intertek Process

  • Application. Submit your product description, target markets, and applicable standards.
  • TCF submission. Provide your technical documentation: test reports (safety and EMC where applicable), engineering drawings, concept of operation, list of build standards, bill of materials, critical component list, user manuals, rating and product labelling, risk assessment, product specifications, and your signed self-declaration of conformity.
  • Technical evaluation. Intertek experts examine the Technical Construction File against the essential requirements of the applicable directives — Annex I of the LVD, Machinery Directive and EMC Directive, and Annex II of RoHS.
  • AoC decision. If your product is compliant, Intertek issues the Attestation of Conformity.

Your Benefits

  • Enhanced product trust through independent validation
  • Support for CE, UKCA, and other regulatory frameworks
  • Increased market acceptance and stronger tender positions
  • Reduced regulatory risk
  • Access to Intertek's global expertise and network

Your declaration is your claim. An AoC makes it a proven one. Contact us with your product information and technical documentation to start the process.
